Recreational Coverage for the Open Road & Open Seas

Here at the Weiser Agency, our mission is to ensure your lifestyle is protected both now and in the future.  As the spring weather sets in, many of us are, or are planning to, enjoy recreational vehicles outdoors. Within this post, we wanted to help vacationers understand how their recreational vehicles play into personal insurance policies in order to ensure you have the appropriate coverage needed.

Boats and Jet Skis

If you own a boat or jet ski, you’re likely very careful about avoiding accidents while you’re at the helm. While on the open water, it’s your watercraft insurance policy that protects you in case of an insurance claim. If you regularly haul your watercraft to and from the ocean or lake however, you may not realize that it is actually your car insurance policy that protects you if your boat comes loose and causes havoc to oncoming traffic!

Recreational Vehicles

If you’re planning to rent or purchase an RV this season, it’s important to know that your personal auto insurance may not provide coverage when you rent an RV. While every auto policy is different, most will not extend coverage to an RV if the RV is above a certain size and weight. Even if your auto policy does extend to the RV you rent, damage caused by an RV can be much greater than damage caused by a car. You’ll want to make sure you understand the coverages and limitations of your auto or RV policy, so you don’t fall victim to The Myth of “Full Coverage” Auto Insurance

If you want to be sure that your coverage is appropriate for any new purchases or rentals, please give us a call at 805-984-3777 to review your policy.  We’re always happy to provide a free consultation to get you where you need to go!
